I did this in school…Put your arm up as high as you can with a wall measured by inches…(for me the tip of my finger was 6′5”)…then JUMP! as high as you can and record the data.
stand up with your arm fully extended vertically against a wall, measure the height from the floor to the tip of your arm then without taking a step jump and touch the wall measure where you touched the wall , take the difference of inches from the top of your hand to the place you touched on the wall and that is your vertical leap
To test your vertical leap there is a special tool that is used. There is a pole and attached to that pole are a unch of light cardboard pieces. You would jump and knock to the side the tallest piece you can reach. Then on the side there is a measurment and that is your vertical jump. To dunk it depends on how skilled you are. If youre missing you might be hitting the ball on the back of the rim or you might not be putting it down straight. There isnt really a set leap that you need to be to dunk. You have to have a pretty good vertical leap but even the tallest person who can jump 20 feet cant dunk if they dont have the right form.

Tip Of Finger W/o Jumping:6′0”
Tip of Finger While Jumping:8′0”

Not sure but if you’re six feet tall and can’t dunk a ten INCH rim then something is wrong.
